On May 20th, Ruthie and I arrived in Monterrey excited to reconnect with Deaf believers, meet new people, and see what God would do during our time in Mexico.

Right away, we began seeing the Lord move in powerful and personal ways.

Friday Evening — Healing, Prayer, and Seeds Being Planted

On Friday evening, we met with a Deaf couple along with four hearing family members — her sister, brother-in-law, mother, and father.

The Deaf woman shared that she had been suffering from severe migraines since 2019. The pain had become so serious that it was affecting her daily life and work.

We prayed for healing.

At first, the pain left… but then it suddenly came back again. Instead of becoming discouraged, we continued praying and ministering to the family.

As we prayed, the presence of God began touching different people in the room. Some said they felt their knees shaking. One woman said she felt something leave her body. The atmosphere became very tender as everyone sensed God moving among them.

We also shared the Gospel briefly and testified about what Jesus has done in our lives.

I was able to speak more with the brother-in-law since he could speak English. I shared my testimony with him and introduced him to some Spanish ministry resources so he could continue learning more about Jesus and the Gospel.

It was beautiful to watch God moving in an entire family.

Seeds were being planted.

Saturday — Fellowship and New Connections

On Saturday, we met with another Deaf couple, Hannah and Joel. We had previously baptized Hannah, and this time she wanted to introduce us to her boyfriend. We spent time talking together about their future, discipleship, and the importance of surrounding themselves with believers who will help them grow in Christ.

One major burden on our hearts during this trip has been helping Deaf believers get connected with one another regularly for fellowship, encouragement, prayer, and discipleship.

Later, while we were at the mall, Carlos and Sylvia introduced us to one of their Deaf friends and her husband. We shared our testimony and briefly presented the Gospel to them. We are thankful for every opportunity God gives to plant seeds and point people toward Jesus.

Sunday Evening — Bringing Believers Together

On Sunday evening, we introduced Carlos and Sylvia to Hannah and Joel.

One of our prayers is to see Deaf believers in Mexico become connected as true spiritual family — encouraging one another, praying together, and growing together in Christ.

It was encouraging to watch new relationships beginning to form between brothers and sisters in the Lord.

Tuesday — Healing, Forgiveness, and Testimonies

On Tuesday, we visited an older Deaf couple. The woman has breast cancer, and during our conversation we talked deeply about forgiveness and the importance of releasing pain and bitterness to the Lord. After ministering to her, we prayed for healing and encouraged them in Christ.

Later that evening, we met with Melissa, whom we baptized a couple years ago.

Her testimony deeply encouraged us. Melissa shared how Jesus truly changed her life. She told us that the depression and anxiety she once struggled with are now gone, and she has developed a strong hunger for fellowship and spiritual growth.

We spent time discussing with Carlos and Sylvia about making plans for regular weekly fellowship gatherings so believers can continue growing together consistently.

Then we received incredible news. The woman from Friday evening — the one suffering from severe migraines since 2019 — reported that she had not experienced any more migraines since we prayed. She also shared that the doctor confirmed she no longer had pain.

We give all glory to Jesus.
