Walking Together in the Kingdom

Mexico City, Mexico

May 28 – June 3, 2026

Over the past week in Mexico City, we had the privilege of spending time with several disciples who are hungry to grow in their walk with Jesus. Through conversations, prayer, discipleship, and ministry, we saw God continue His work in people's hearts. While some moments were quiet and personal, they carried eternal significance as God brought healing, correction, encouragement, and fresh understanding of His Kingdom.

One of the blessings of this week was meeting with six disciples and having opportunities to invest in their spiritual growth. During one conversation, a woman reached out with additional questions and a desire to learn more. As we spent time ministering to her, God opened an unexpected door and connected us with another believer from the United States through that relationship. What began as a simple conversation turned into a meaningful discussion about faith, discipleship, and following Jesus.

One conversation led to deeper questions, encouragement, and new connections that God continues to unfold.

We also spent time encouraging a married couple who have been working through challenges in their relationship. It was encouraging to hear how God has already been leading them toward greater unity and helping them address areas that once kept them divided. Rather than operating separately, they are learning how to move forward together as one. We continue to pray that the Lord will strengthen their marriage and help them walk faithfully in His purposes.

Another meaningful conversation centered on humility and having a servant's heart. We discussed the importance of doing everything with love, just as Paul teaches in 1 Corinthians 13. No matter how much knowledge we have, how much ministry we do, or how many good works we accomplish, if love is absent, our efforts lose their value. We were reminded that people should see Jesus through us. Our goal is not simply to do ministry but to reflect Christ in the way we live, serve, and treat others.

Throughout our time here, a common theme continued to surface in conversation after conversation. We believe this is something God wants us to keep emphasizing during our stay in Mexico, and honestly, it is just as common in the United States.

Many people view salvation as a finish line rather than the beginning of a journey. We discussed how coming to Christ is not the end of the story. It is the beginning of a life of discipleship. We do not simply believe in Jesus; we believe Him and live according to His Word. We walk in His truth daily.

We talked about how being born again means entering the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom is not merely about where we go after we die. It is about Christ reigning in our lives now. As His people, we are called to bring His Kingdom into our homes, relationships, workplaces, and communities.

One illustration that seemed to connect with people was this: when an orange is squeezed, orange juice comes out. It would be strange if apple juice came out instead. In the same way, when believers experience pressure, stress, trials, or persecution, Christ should come out of us. Difficult circumstances reveal what is truly inside our hearts. As followers of Jesus, we want our lives to reflect Him no matter what challenges we face.

During the week, we also met with a couple who expressed interest in baptism and being born again. As we talked together, we discussed the seriousness of covenant and commitment before God. They shared their desire to move forward in obedience to the Lord. We encouraged them to establish their relationship in a way that honors God and to make a commitment to endure together faithfully. This is a challenge we encounter often, as many couples live together but face financial barriers that make legal marriage difficult. We are praying for wisdom and God's direction as they seek to do what is right before Him.

Perhaps one of the most powerful moments of the week came during a ministry time with a woman carrying pain from her past. As we talked and prayed with her, she began to understand why forgiveness is so important. At first, she struggled to see why releasing others mattered so much, but God began revealing truth to her heart.

As ministry continued, the Lord brought healing from emotional wounds she had carried for a long time. During prayer, she experienced a powerful encounter with God and was set free from spiritual oppression. When it was over, she expressed a deep sense of freedom and testified that even the pain she had been experiencing in her back was gone. Watching Jesus bring healing and freedom was a beautiful reminder that He still restores lives today.

What God Is Teaching Us

This week reminded us that discipleship is a lifelong journey.

Many people are looking for a single moment that changes everything, but Jesus calls us into a daily walk with Him. Salvation begins with surrender to Christ, but it continues as we learn to obey His Word and allow Him to transform our hearts.

We are also seeing how important it is for believers to represent Jesus well when life becomes difficult. Pressure reveals what is inside us. When Christ truly reigns in our hearts, His character becomes visible even during challenges.

Most of all, we continue to see that freedom comes when people embrace truth, forgive others, and surrender fully to the Lord.

Mexico City is a vast mission field filled with people searching for hope, truth, and freedom in Christ.
